Hopkins Guitars are handcrafted top quality acoustical steel string guitars and mountain dulcimers. You can choose your next instrument from one in my inventory or we can design your custom handmade instrument together; which is what I recommend. That way you get your dream instrument to enjoy for years to come. It will be customized to your wishes and to your playing style. We will pick the materials together from the body and neck materials to the tuners. So give me a call and let’s get started on your dream instrument(s). On custom instruments we will be in contact together during the entire build, sending photos each step of the way if you wish.

All my instruments are 100% handmade by me in my small shop. All necks are hand craved so any size & shape of neck is an option. I start with lumbers not kits. I hand carve all my soundboard and back braces and electronically tune all my soundboards/braces while carving using Peterson's Strobosoft software. The only parts I buy are the inlays, some of my bridges, strings and tuning machines.

I'm a K&K Sound and LR Baggs dealer and authorized installer.

Meet the Maker:

Hello, I'm Gary Hopkins and after years of woodworking I needed a more challenging project. Being a lover of music and a guitar player, I decided to start building acoustical guitars. After a few of years of building guitars I added mountain dulcimers to my inventory.

In July 2011, I left the space program, where I was an engineering design manager, to pursue a full time career as a Luthier building top quality acoustical instruments. All instruments are 100% handcrafted and finished by me in my shop. All instruments are 100% guaranteed against defects. They will be repaired or replaced, my option, at no charge.

Several guitars and mountain dulcimers are available for sale, click on the page links to the right for more details and pricing.
